The Help – A touching story of the coloured people.

The Help – It is a story based on the people who work to help people. In this case they are coloured people who work as domestic help and nannies for rich white people. This story can form a chapter in the upraising of the coloured people for their equal rights.

This story happens in the 1960’s and during this time all the nanny’s employed in the white people’s home are coloured people and it shows how they are discriminated. The story revolves mainly around 2 nannies. One named Aibileen Clark and the other Minny Jackson. Aibi has lost her son and he died due in an accident and racism being one cause for it. Minny is smart mouthed and has 4 children and a husband who beats her often. Skeeter is another main character and she has just returned from college and got herself a job with a local newspaper. Her first job was to answer to the questions asked by the readers on household jobs. Which she does with the help of Aibi. Soon she decides to write a book by name “The Help” where in she wants to write about coloured nannies and their life in the white people’s home. Initially no one come front to help her fearing that they will loose their job. But Aibi comes forward to help her soon after she attends a church meeting which changes her mind. Soon Minny too joins after she is fired for using the employer’s toilet during a storm. Another Nanny is caught by police and violently arrested for stealing a ring from her employer to pay for her son’s tuition. Knowing this soon a number of nannies come and start telling their stories to Skeeter. Soon she is ready with the book and she publishes it putting Anonymous in it. But concerned people know who the book referres to. Soon Aibi looses her job and that’s when she decides to retire and becomes a writer.  Where as Minny joins as a nanny in another house and she helps a woman raise a home and supports her during distress. She becomes liked by the family and they treat her well. The story ends that way.

The story has its own funny moments mainly from Minny and the movie is taken in a genuine way. We are made to believe that this has happened in real before, just because of the performance the actors have given and the story which is very close to History. But this is just a novel may be inspired by events. The movie preaches that all people should be treated with dignity and it does in a touching way. This movie leaves a lump in the throat in the last scene. This movie also has good music which suits well to the situation. Go watch this movie where ladies take the honors.
