The Help – It is a story based on the people who work to help people. In this case they are coloured people who work as domestic help and nannies for rich white people. This story can form a chapter in the upraising of the coloured people for their equal rights. This story happens in the 1960’s and during this time all the nanny’s employed in the white people’s home are coloured people and it shows how they are discriminated. The story revolves mainly around 2 nannies. One named Aibileen Clark and the other Minny Jackson. Aibi has lost her son and he died due in an accident and racism being one cause for it. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close – A little boring movie

Image
This movie is based on the 11 th September 2001 incident. It is a story where a boy looses his father, and what he does to come out of that grief. He does that by searching a lock for which he has a key. The story revolves around this boy Oskar Schell played by Thomas Horn, his mother played by Sandra Bullock and father by Tom Hanks. We are shown mainly the father-son relationship in the beginning of the movie. Tom Hanks and his son are playing a strange game. (Which I did not understand & I feel it is not important too). The boy enjoys his father’s company very much and likes the way his father treats him. One the dooms day his father is there in the 105 th floor of WTC and he leaves 6 messages in the answering machine before he jumps off the building. Oskar leaves early from school and he comes to know that his father is dead from TV and his messages in the answering machine. He is grief struck and is unable to come out of it. He hides those messages also from his mother t...

Midnight in Paris – Is a Fantasy movie

Image
Saw Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. The movie starts with beautiful Paris and progresses with the main characters enjoying their vacation in Paris. To be precise the characters are played by Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. Owen Wilson is writing a Novel and Rachel is interested in shopping and socializing more with friends. Owen Wilson likes to walk in Paris and loves more to walk in the rain. Because he thinks Paris is more beautiful in rain. So one day when he is walking alone, he gets lost and is sitting on a step thinking what to do. Midnight strikes. A vintage car comes and people in it are welcoming Owen and he is transported to the 1920s where he meets Hemmingway and other world famous French artist. How he interacts with them and comes to the present every day and goes back to the past every midnight forms the rest of the movie. He even reads history in the present and goes back to past to check that out. The interest is kept in us till the end of the movie. This is a new id...

Moneyball teaches us to think differently when you are cornered.

This movie is based on a biographical book written on the ex-baseball player and the current GM of the baseball team “Oakland Athletics”. The main character Billy Beane is played by Brad Pitt. I don’t know much about baseball. Just know the meaning of strike and homerun to be precise. But this movie showed me that a strategy, or we can call it a winning strategy can be made even when you are in ruins. But sticking to that strategy and waiting for the strategy to give fruits can be painful. Brad Pitt has excelled in acting and shows us a different guy. The story: A baseball team has lost key players and they don’t have money to buy better players. And the selection panel is taking the same old ways of selecting players from the available price list even taking consideration of the player’s girlfriend which makes Billy loose hope. He then meets an economics graduate from Yale who gives him an idea of how to choose players which Billy likes and gives him a job as assistant GM for “Oakl...

The Girl Who Played with Fire is just an OK affair compared to the first one

Image
I was interested in this movie since I finished watching the first installment. “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. I got hold of an English dubbed version of the Swedish movie. Because the English version of the movie is yet to be made and I feel hopefully it will be made. This Movie is not as interesting as the first installment. But manages to make us watch it in one sitting. The base story line, you can get from the trailer attached with this blog and it is not as complex as the first installment. This movie deals with women trafficking and violence in the background. Here we are shown the childhood of Lisbeth Salander who is the “GIRL” which comes in the name of the movie. The violence in the movie is much less compared to the first installment. The ending has made me interested in watching the third installment too. Don’t watch with the excitement which the first installment gave you then you will enjoy more. The rating for this movie is 3/5 . *--------*   The Girl With t...
